After three initial visits to the Chapter as a guest, the candidate will
enter a twelve month period of Aspirancy, during which
time they will study the charism and history of the Order. At the end of the
period of Aspirancy, the candidate and the OCDS Council will discern if the
candidate has a vocation to Carmel. The candidate will then be clothed with the
Carmelite Scapular and enter Formation I for two years to continue study.
After the required period of Formation I and with the approval of the
Council, they may make a Temporary Promise for three years. This period
includes additional Carmelite study and Formation.
